Traffic Related Nanoparticles and Their Toxicity
Original language description
This paper reports results of studies about spatial distribution of nanoparticles produced by internal combustion engines utilized in vehicles within two different urban areas, impact of alternative fuels usage on particle production and toxicity. Among tested fuels for diesel engines hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) exhibited the lowest toxicity, but it did not reduce the mass of particles as much as biodiesel. The best alternative fuel for spark-ignition engines was a blend of gasoline and isobutanol.
