The activity of inducible nitric oxide synthase in rejected skin xenografts is selectively inhibited by a factor produced by grafted cells

  • Original language description

Production of nitric oxide (NO) by graft infiltrating macrophages has been suggested as an important effector mechanism of allograft rejection. Expression of the gene for the inducible NO synthase (iNOS) and the production of NO in rejected graft has been demonstrated in various models of allotransplantation. However, whether NO plays a role in rejection of skin xenografts has not been documented. We described a suppressive molecule of molecular mass of 67 kDa which is produced by rejected skin xenografts and which selectively inhibits the iNOS activity in graft infiltrating macrophages. Therefore, NO does not play a significant role in rejection of rat skin xenografts as it does in the case of allograft rejection.

Aktivita indukovatelné syntázy oxidu dusnatého v odvržených kožních xenograftech je selektivně potlačována faktorem produkovaným buňkami štěpu

  • Czech description

Produkce oxidu dusnatého (NO) makrofágy infiltrujícími štěp se považuje za důležitý efektorový mechanismus odvržení alograftu. U různých modelů alotransplantace byla prokázána exprese genu pro indukovatelnou NO syntázu (iNOS) a produkce NO. Nebylo však prokázáno, zda NO hraje nějakou úlohu v odvržení kožních xenograftů.
