A review article discussing roles of RNA silencing in mouse oocytes. RNA silencing differs in mammalian oocytes differ from somatic cells because long dsRNA readily entters RNAi in oocytes while the related miRNA pathway is suppressed there. The articleis summarizing current data and is discussing possible causes of this phenomenon.
