    The conference Making Anthropology Matter was an important international meeting co-organized by the Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA), which was attended by 60 anthropologists from all around the world, including leading personalities of the discipline (Thomas Hylland Eriksen, Michal Buchowski, Judith Okely, Suzana Narotzky, etc.). The conference was concluded by the „Capacity Building Workshop“, co-organized by Niko Besnier (University of Amsterdam), specialist in the anthropology of sports and economic anthropologist Susana Narotzky (University of Barcelona). The conference was supported by the grant from the Academy of Sciences under the program Strategy AV21, research program Effective public policies and contemporary society, section on Mobilities. One of its effects is a Policy Paper, Why Anthropology Matters, which has been translated into 10 European languages.
