  • Original language description

Chemical methods of atomic iodine generation for a chemical oxygen-iodine laser (COIL) were studied using gaseous reactions of chlorine or fluorine atoms with hydrogen iodide. After optimization of reaction conditions, both methods provided high yields and concentrations of atomic iodine, which are sufficient for efficient laser generation in COIL. To get very high laser gain requires a prevention of the reaction of singlet oxygen with hydrogen iodide, which is a strong quencher of singlet oxygen in laser. A quasi-1D and CFD modeling was used for the experimental investigation support.
