Roles of the quadrupole interaction and of the quadratic stark effect in spectral lines from plasmas interacting with a strong quasimonochromatic electric field
Original language description
The interaction of laser-generated strong Quasimonochromatic Electric Fields (QEF) with a preformed plasma is analysed. The computation of synthetic x-ray spectra emitted by hot plasmas includes Floquet-Liouville formalism based calculation of the Starkline profiles in the presence of the QEF and the radiation transfer through the plasma. The roles of the quadrupole interaction with the ion microfield and of the quadratic Stark effect were studied. Particle-In-Cell (PIC) kinetic simulations were performed to model the QEF inhomogeneity. These theoretical calculations were applied for x-ray spectroscopic analysis of real experiments. The QEF are visualized via satellites emission. The allowance for the quadratic Stark effect is important for consistentinterpretation of the experimental results, while the allowance for the quadrupole interaction with the ion microfield does not play a significant role.
