Antiferroelectric phase in liquid crystalline compounds with azo group in their molecular core
Original language description
The new lactic acid derivatives with azo group in their molecular core have been synthesized and mesomorphic properties established. Compounds with short aliphatic non-chiral chain exhibited the SmA* and the ferroelectric (FE) SmC* phase. The monotropicantiferroelectric (AF) phase has been found in the homologues with longer terminal chain. Physical properties were studied and spontaneous polarization and tilt angle temperature dependences established.
