Interferometric studies of the pre-plasma influence on the laser energy transfer to the shock wave with the use of two-layer planar targets
Original language description
Interferometric measurements of the CH pre-plasma influence on the efficiency of the laser radiation energy transport to the shock wave generated in a solid target were carried out on the Prague Asterix Laser System.Two-layer planar targets, consisting ofa massive target made of Cu and CH thin layers, were applied. The targets were irradiated with two laser pulses according to the shock ignition (SI)concept. The first harmonic (lambda(1) = 1315 nm) moderate-intensity(similar to 10(14) Wcm(-2))pulse was used, which compresses a deuterium-tritium plasma in the SI scenario. The first or third harmonic (lambda(3) = 438 nm) high-intensity (similar to 10(15)-10(16) W cm(-2)) pulse generated a shock wave, corresponding to the igniting shock in SI.To determine theenergy transfer from a laser beam to the target, crater volume measurements were performed. The measurements using these two diagnostics enabled us to determine the pre-plasma influence on the fast electrons' contribution to the energy
