μ-PD-grown Tm,Ho-doped multicomponent garnets for diode-pumped 2.1 μm lasers
Original language description
In this study, we present the results obtained with a set of samples of three types of Tm,Ho-doped multicomponent garnets: GdLu2Al5O12 (GLAG), Gd3Sc1.8Al3.2O12 (GSAG), and Lu3Sc0.7Al4.3O12 (LSAG). The concentration of Ho3+ was 0.75 at.% in all cases. The concentration of Tm3+ was either 2 or 4 at.%. Crystals grown by the μ-PD method were 2-3mm in diameter and 20mm in length. The crystals could be grown well without cracks or any visible inclusions. From the crystals, 3mm long samples with polished faces were prepared for further testing. Absorption and emission spectra together with the decay time of 2.1 μm fluorescence were measured. The samples were further tested as the active medium of a diode pumped laser.
