In this work, all possible products in the reaction between N1-(2-amino-ethyl)-propane-1,3-diamine and 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde in the absence and presence of the nickel(II) ion, as a collector of the reagents, were studied by the theoretical and experimental methods. In continue, synthesis, characterization and coordination chemistry of two new chiral/racemic complexes of nickel(II), racemic-RS-[Ni(L)]NO3 (1) and [Ni(L)]SCN (2), HL: 2-(((2-((3-aminopropyl)amino)ethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, obtained from a template reaction were discussed. The two complexes were identified by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
