Original language description
The paper discusses some important problems of a complex survey of historical timber. It starts with examples of specific features of surface survey providing information about working and manufacturing technology. It further introduces recent results concerning estimation of actual mechanical characteristics of historical built-in wood by means of small sample testing. This semi-destructive method uses core drilling for compression tests and extraction of small tension coupons for tension tests.

Článek diskutuje některé problémy komplexního hodnocení historického dřeva ve stavebních konstrukcích. Uvádí příklady zvláštních povrchových stop, které informují o výrobní technologii a způsobu vytvoření konstrukce. Uvádí se výsledky hodnocení základních mechanických charaktaeristik dřeva, získaných na vzorcích malých rozměrů.
