4D X-ray micro-tomography and acoustic emission for sandstone damage assessment
Original language description
In this study, simultaneous combination of 4D X-ray computed micro-tomography (XCT) and acoustic emission (AE) techniques have been applied to study the process of crack propagation in natural rocks. Two different types of Czech quartz sandstones, Kocbeře and Mšené sandstones, differing in microfabrics and physico-mechanical properties were utilized in this experiment. For this purpose, in-situ flexural testing methodology based on an in-house developed instrumentation consisting of four-point bending setup with the vertical orientation of the sample integrated with the XCT scanner was used.
