    In this paper, the moisture diffusivity of calcium silicate is determined as function of moisture content for both vertical and horizontal directions of water flow. The calcium silicate thermal insulation boards were found to have very good hygric properties for an application in interior thermal insulation systems. The very high moisture diffusivity makes possible the water condensed in the insulation layer in the winter period to be fast transported from the condensation zone so that the layer is prevented from the increase of thermal conductivity due to the increase of moisture content
