Interaction among Dislocation Loops in Deformed Metals
Original language description
One of the most distinguished features of plastic deformation at the microscale is a great overproduction of dislocations during a deformation process. In solids with wavy slip these dislocations are stored in the form of dislocation dipolar loops. The loops hinder the motion of fresh glide dislocations causing strain hardening . The loop distribution is governed by a balance law . The flux of loops may be caused by three effects: a drift of loops in a stress gradient, a sweeping of loops by the flow ofglide dislocations, and the interaction among loops. The net loop generation is a result of the production of loops and their annihilation. The interaction among loops is treated as a diffusion using the continuous field approximation; the diffusion co efficient is derived from the elastic interaction energy between dislocation loops
