    The interior thermal insulations can be constructed as three-layer systems consisting of water vapor retarder moderating the water vapor flux into the load bearing structure in the winter period, capillary active thermal insulation material transportinga part of the possibly condensed water back to the interior, and internal light plaster making possible easy transport of the surplus water vapor to the interior. In this paper, the material properties of several mortars and water vapor retarders developed specifically for interior thermal insulation systems with capillary active thermal insulations are determined experimentally. Water sorptivity, liquid moisture diffusivity, water vapor permeability, adsorption isotherms, and thermal conductivity are measured in a wide range of moisture content. Perspective materials for the possible applications in interior thermal insulation systems are identified
