Capillary Active Materials on the Mineral Wool Basis in Interior Thermal Insulation Systems: Computational Simulation of Hygrothermal Performance

  • Original language description

Hygrothermal performance of a three layer interior thermal insulation system consisting of water vapor retarder, capillary active thermal insulation material on the mineral wool basis and internal light plaster is tested by computational analysis using DELPHIN 4.1. Three types of load bearing structures are chosen in the calculations, namely the brick wall, limestone wall and concrete wall. As the capillary active thermal insulation, the dual density material DU developed by Rockwool, SA, is chosen, which meets the specific thermal, hygric and mechanical requirements to the interior thermal insulations. Temperature, relative humidity and overhygroscopic moisture fields are calculated for the time period of several years and the hygrothermal performanceof the systems is assessed. The calculations are first performed for the load bearing structure without any thermal insulation in order to find realistic initial conditions, then calculations for the particular renovated walls are done
