We pointed out in the previous works that a successful prediction of the macroscopic behavior of complex layered composite structures requires detailed modeling on various size scales. Bridging individual length scales is usually accomplished by introducing multi-scale or hierarchical modeling. The general goal of this contribution is to address an effect of imperfect bonding on the response of woven composites usually supplied in the form of complex multilayered structures. On the microscale level, thedisordered microstructure is handled by employing a computational model based on the extended Hashin-Shtrikman variational principles to provide estimates of local fields on micro-scale. The basic geometrical model on meso-scale is defined in terms of acertain periodic unit cell and the standard homogenization technique based on periodic fields is implemented within the framework of the finite element method and extended to account for the imperfect bonding along the fiber-tow interfa.
