Applying Genetic Algorithms to Several Problems of Engineering Practice
Original language description
The aim of the present contribution is to summarize several achievements obtained when solving different engineering optimization tasks with the help of genetic algorithms-based methods. The first part is devoted to the comparison of several stochastic optimization algorithms used by the authors in their previous works for the solution of some problems arising in Civil Engineering. In particular, the Differential Evolution (DE) is compared to the Simplified Atavistic Differential Evolution (SADE), Integer Augmented Simulated Annealing (IASA) and the Real-valued Augmented Simulated Annealing (RASA) methods, the algorithms independently developed by authors for solving various optimization problems. A carefully selected set of optimized functions is usedfor the comparison of these methods, both in terms of performance and reliability. The second part deals with the problem of a complex material model parameters identification. The microplane material law, describing behavior of concret.
