Thermal Properties of Building Materials in High Temperature Range
Original language description
Thermal diffusivity, specific heat capacity and linear thermal expansion coefficient of several different building materials, among them cement mortar, glass and carbon fiber reinforced cement composites with various composition, are determined in a widetemperature range of 200C to 8000C. Three main effects are found to influence the high temperature thermal properties of the analyzed materials. The first is the decomposition of cement matrix, a clearly negative factor as demonstrated on the example ofcement mortar. The second is the positive effect of the presence of fibers that could partially keep the cement matrix together even after significant decomposition of cement hydration products. It should only be noted that the positive effects of the fibers are limited to the achievement of temperatures when glass fibers are melted and carbon fibers exposed to the oxygen from the air. The third important factor affecting the high temperature properties is the composition of the partic.
