Environmentally based optimization is a process targeting reduction of negative environmental impact of products &#8211; civil engineering structures (e.g. floor structures), while increasing the structure&#8217;s serviceability, durability and reliability. These goals should be achieved while keeping the cost on a reasonable (minimum) level and performance at a feasible (maximum) level. The environmentally based optimization is very complex and covers a wide variety of different criterions (multi-criterion approach).
