Nonlocal Constitutive Law for Softening of Trabecular Bone

Result description

A constitutive law for trabecular bone, based on damage coupled with elastoplasticity, is formulated using density and fabric-based tensors, and a nonlocal averaging technique is used to prevent mesh dependency of the solution. The model parameters are calibrated from experimental results, and an application example dealing with compression of a vertebral body is presented.
