Water sorptivity experiment is the simplest technique for the characterization of capability of porous materials to absorb water and transport it by capillary forces, thus for describing liquid water transport. In this paper, the water sorptivity experiment is considered from the point of view of its overall capability to characterize properties of porous building materials, and its strong and weak points are analyzed.
