Original language description
A new variational structure is proposed in this paper which involves nonlinear material behavior of the phases of composites. The idea starts with employment of eigenparameters into the energy equilibrium or variational formulation in terms of Lagrangianor Castigliano-Menabrea principles. The approach can be used to obtain bounds and estimates that may be available for the effective properties of linear composites. The main advantages of the procedure are the simplicity of its implementation and generality of its application. The procedure proposed in this paper is in some respect generalization of Hashin-Shtrikman variational principles for linear composites.
