Determination of Young's Modulus of Gypsum Blocks Using Two Different Experimental Methods
Original language description
The paper presents two different experimental methods for Young's modulus determination of gypsum blocks. The first used method was impulse excitation method. The dynamic Young's moduli were calculated based on the measured resonant frequencies of longitudinal vibration of the gypsum blocks. The major advantage of this method is its nondestructive character. Therefore, the standard destructive compression test could be done on the same specimens. The static Young's moduli were determined from the stress-strain curve obtained during static loading. At the end of the paper, the results of comparison of static and dynamic Young's moduli are summarized
