Influence of temperature to the deformations of historical buildings in Prague Castle
Original language description
This paper deals with the influence of temperature on the deformations of the ancient buildings in the area of Prague Castle, which falls within the UNESCO World Heritage reserve. For early detection of possible degradation process of these buildings itis important to do geodetic monitoring of the load bearing structure. During this monitoring were detected displacements among monitoring points. It was supposed that the measured displacements were caused by the temperature extensibility of ancient masonry. Theoretical thermo-mechanical simulation of temperature distribution in the structures in the time of geodetic measurement was obtained from 3-D numerical model of one span of the Saint Vitus Cathedral. The comparison of the computed and measured values of displacements confirmed the hypothesis that the measured displacements were caused also by the temperature extensibility of the structure.
