Snow totalizer is a combination of two independent approaches to measure the temporal variation of the water amount of falling snow during the winter time. Two independent 40 liter containers are filled with antifreeze liquid (approximately 20 l of the liquid in each of the cylindrical containers). Two independent approaches are chosen to backup measurements in the winter season where servicing is impossible. Part one is operated with the pressure transducer which measures pressure of the liquid columnof antifreeze/water solution - melting snow in the antifreeze. Part two works on the principle of bottle overfilling and spilling the mixture into the tipping bucket flowmeter and its storage in a buried drum container. The device is connected to CR23X datalogger for the pressure transducer and tipping bucket magnetic reed switch signal detection.
