    The behavior of water in heterogeneous soil media is still not fully understood. Imaging of processes in soil at microscopic scale by optical microscopy can clarify some flow irregularities observed at larger scales. The apparatus was constructed at ourdepartment to conduct the infiltration experiments on miniature samples of soil. The set-up consists of wooden stand, microscope holder, sample holder, two electronic balances, digital peristaltic pump and datalogger. The microscopy images, infiltrationrate and outflow rate are recorded simultaneously during the infiltrations. The pump is fully controlled by the datalogger.
