Risk Management of Tunnel Projects
Original language description
Tunnels are one of the most costly and complicated part of transport infrastructure. Their construction is connected with high uncertainty in the field of costs, schedule, safety and impact on surroundings. In the Czech Republic, a boom in transport infrastructure development during last 15 years has led to frequent construction of tunnels. However, risks have not been managed properly in these projects. Risks have not been considered during the preparation of the projects, operative decisions have notbeen carried out based on risk analysis. In addition, the insurers of large tunnel projects have not had appropriate data for setting the insurance premium. Therefore, this work suggests a framework for a systematic process for risk management and it provides tools for analysis of risk connected with excavation in uncertain geotechnical conditions (including collection of historical data).
