Experimental designs and analysis of the behavior of stabilized mixtures with application of by-products and alternative binders within the transport engineering
Original language description
The utilization of recycled materials and by-products can lead to effective decrease of consumption of natural materials. Possibilities of application of such materials within road construction in the form of cold recycling mixes as well as within stabilized mixes for railway track-bed were investigated in the framework of this project. In the first year of project work, the activities were focused on utilization of fly-ashes, reclaimed asphalt planings (RAP) and crushed concrete made from railway sleepers. Diverse experimental mixes, stabilized by bituminous emulsion in combination with other binders, were designed and tested. The set of laboratory tests of selected mechanical and physical parameters was carried out. A possibility of partial or full cement substitution with fly-ash was also verified.
