    Glued connection in glass structures

  • Original language description

Connection between glass and another material (steel, stainless steel, aluminium or timber) is a specific problem in the practise of glass structures. Glued joints, depending on the thickness and stiffness, provide more uniform distribution of stress dueto relatively large glued area in comparison with bolted connections, which is a significant advantage in brittle glass. The strength and behaviour of glued joint under increasing load is influenced by many factors. Some of them like different types ofadhesives, various joining materials or surface treatment are aimed at the first part of the research. The second part of the research deals with the influence of moisture, UV radiation and changing temperature on glued joint.
