Original language description
Biomass preserves the energy from the sun and it is one of the most popular and universal resources on Earth. It provides not only food but also energy, building materials, paper, fabrics, medicines and chemicals, being the biodegradable fraction of products, waste and residues from agriculture, including vegetal and animal substances, forestry and related industries, as well as the biodegradable fraction of industrial and municipal waste. Using biomass to produce energy can help reduce GHG emissions, is also considered one of the cheapest energy source for providing heat and the biofuels made from processing it has numerous environmental advantages, such as low emissions of methane, CO2, aerosols and nitrous oxide.
