Two Examples of Railway Brownfield Revitalization in Berlin
Original language description
Term "railway brownfield" is still in many ways perceived as an oxymoron. There isn't any complex mapping study on these areas so far. Only developers are interested in these spaces and only for some specific ones. Problems of railway brownfields aren'tonly in the Czech Republic. Other European countries must also contend with these areas and buildings. These problems are especially connected with decrease of freights (even passengers) transported by rail. Germany had to solve similar problems. In Berlin there are still many unused segments of stations, railway sidings, etc. Larger areas of stations or big and interesting buildings managed to revitalize. In this paper I would like to introduce two interesting revitalizations - the revitalization of former classification yard Berlin-Tempelhof and former post station Berlin-Postbahnhof (Ost).
