Exploratory Galleries used for Construction of Transport Tunnels in the CR
Original language description
The paper brings overview of road tunnels and railway tunnels constructed by NATM in the Czech Republic in period 1990 - 2011, the overview is focused on utilisation of the exploratory galleries. The main parameters of both exploratory galleries and associated transport tunnels are presented together with basic information from their construction. The conclusion is focused on the deeper discussion of benefits and demerits of exploratory galleries. Besides impact on the construction risk reduction otherimpacts are discussed as well (ventilation during construction, increment of the face stability, ground improvement possibilities, ground drainage, tunnel alignment fixation, political issues, etc.). Also profiles and positions of exploratory galleries are presented and discussed.
