    This paper presents the geotechnical monitoring of a communal solid waste disposal in the Tušimice. The landfill is located on a spoil heap which requires special approach to the monitoring. Spoil heaps are appreciated for their low permeability. Heterogeneous spoil heaps, however, tend to consolidate slowly and can cause unequal deformations, mainly settlement. This phenomenon can damage sealing parts of the waste disposal. That is why deformations of the landfill bottom are observed by height-measuring boxes for measuring of subsidence. The monitoring should by supplemented by the mathematical modelling determination of the deformation and the settlement.
