The volume of initial investment for adopting BIM
Original language description
BIM benefits have already been specified in literature; however, in the Czech Republic these methods only start to attract proponents. For the construction stakeholders it means transition not only to new software but also to a new method of work, whichin the first stage makes it necessary to bear considerable expenses. The main components of initial investment are: acquiring software, personnel training and upgrading hardware. This paper presents some of the publicly available international guidelinesand describes the required volume of initial investment for adopting BIM. Despite the fact that efficiency of new technologies is already repeatedly proved by experience of the leading world construction companies, the economic gain of BIM technology has yet to be demonstrated on more examples in the Czech Republic.
