Micromechanical Analysis of Heterogeneous Structural Materials
Original language description
This paper shows examples of using micromechanical framework for the assessment of effec-tive elastic properties on several types of microscopically heterogeneous structural materials from nanoindentation. The paper deals namely with cement paste, gypsumand aluminium alloy. Nanoindentation is used for the determination of intrinsic phase properties at the scale below one micrometer. Statistical approach and deconvolution methods are applied. Based on nanoindentation data, elastic properties are homogenized in the frame of the representative volume element (RVE) by means of analytical and numerical FFT-based schemes. Good cor-relation of the results from all methods was found for the tested materials due to the close-to-isotropic nature of the composites in the RVE having the dimensions ~100-200 um.
