This article discusses important properties of recycled aggregates for designing concrete mixture and requirements of aggregates to concrete. These properties also affect properties of recycled concrete. European standards govern possibility of using recycled aggregates for concrete, but requirements of these standards are the same as for natural aggregate. Meet the requirements may be problematic because of higher water absorption of the recycled aggregate for instance.
