Shape optimization of arch and shells centreline
Original language description
In the reality, a concept of ?bend less shape design? is some sort of utopian vision - bend less state is deterministically given for a certain shape of the structure and the actual load. Real load acting on the structure stochastically. If the structures cannot continuously modify the shape given to counteract the current load, bend less condition cannot be guaranteed at all times. But it is possible to estimate the long-term non-variable component of loads and adjust the shape of the centerline in order to minimize the bending effects. Practical applications and theoretical calculations show that an appropriate choice of the shape design can significantly reduce bending effect from unchangeable load and move closer to the ideal membrane structure acting. As a goal of the project the simple computational tool was created for solving 2D beam model in iterative manner while settling shape of vaults and arches to minimize bending effects of operating model loads. User must define a model
