Modelling Slip Surfaces in Soils and their Solution using the FETI Method
Original language description
Significant improvement in research of the lateral earth pressure has been achieved in the last fifteen years. The lateral pressure has been studied experimentally in laboratory as well as numerically with the help of several numerical methods. The experimental research has been based on retaining structures enabling monitoring of displacements and failure processes in soil. Moreover, the normal contact pressure and the vertical friction on the rear face of the retaining structure have been measured. The numerical modelling has been based on the finite element method equipped with a suitable model of plasticity. The failure processes have been described with the help of contact elements or the FETI method.
