Building Information Modeling - Metadata and processes
Original language description
Systems like Building Information Modeling (BIM) can be seen as a tool with big potential to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of large projects in their whole life - cycle. Major barrier of their widespread use and understanding lies in lack ofcorrect data provided in the right time. This article tries to find out, how improved use of existing technologies can contribute to real needs of all kind of users through the whole life cycle of the project. The major focus is on managing knowledge, hidden in data and metadata already stored, in order to build up the concept of managing knowledge that can be provided to users. Further step, based on understanding the knowledge concept, would be focused on research of what data, information and knowledge the users really need, and then the whole BIM whole life cycle concept could be drafted.
