Application of FRP Composites for Decks of Temporary Bridges
Original language description
The FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) are modern materials that have a number of advantages for the application for bridge structures, such as durability, low weight and high strength. The low weight leads to the significant increase of the load capacity of the existing bridges, where the FRP is applied. FRP materials consist of the matrix (epoxy or polyester resin) and fibres (usually glass, aramid or carbon). The FRP materials made from glass fibres and polyester resin (GFRP) were recently used in CzechRepublic for bridge deck in different structural forms. These applications and related research will be described in the paper.
