Analysis of soundscape of selected urban public places and its impact on their assessment by users
Original language description
This paper describes an ongoing research project concerning the soundscape of urban public spacesand the relevance to architectural quality of particular public spaces and their overall assessment by users. Described here isthe methodology of data gathering and analysis that was carried out last year in Prague, Split and Ljubljana. In addition, partial and expected results and possible further applications will be discussed. The topic of the research is the effect of sound environment on perceived quality of a given public space by the inhabitants and the dependant factors that influence these relations. The research is focused on selected public spaces representing different typological categories in cities of different geographical location and theirusers? cultural background. Examined cities will represent regions of central Europe, south Europe and north east Australia.
