Effects of the support rigidity on the performance of integral bridges

  • Original language description

The paper is focused on the influence of the end abutments rigidity of integral bridges on their performance. This kind of bridges is popular because of decreased needs and costs of inspections and maintenance. On the other hand, the arrangement of transition areas and the soil-structure interaction must be carefully analysed and solved. Rigidity of the end abutments influences especially longitudinal displacements, which directly affect behaviour and durability of integral bridges, as well as internalforces in the structure.
