Aperiodic Microstructural Models Based on Wang Tiles
Original language description
Since their definition in 1961, the understanding of Wang tiles have progressed through vigorous studies in Discrete Mathematics and applications in Computer Graphics, Game industry, and Biology. Their appealing feature rests on the ability of braking periodicity in models of random systems, thus outperforming techniques based on periodic compressions. In this contribution, the authors address the key characteristics of Wang tiles, assembly algorithms, and morphology design.
