Design of shear connection in composite steel and concrete truss bridges deck
Original language description
Distribution of the longitudinal shear along an interface of a bridge steel truss and concrete slab within an elastic behaviour is highly non-uniform, exhibiting peaks above truss nodes. Design of the shear connection in such case is partly covered by Eurocode 4 (EN 1994-2) which adopted formulas for a local effect of a concentrated longitudinal shear force and its distribution between the steel truss and the concrete slab. The non-uniform distribution of the longitudinal shear due to given loading andlocalized force transfer at truss nodes in elastic stages of low loadings gradually transfers into uniform plastic redistribution at collapse. The paper clears up the entire process of the redistribution from elastic to plastic stages using 3D materiallynon-linear analyses based on ANSYS software package (validated by experimental investigation) and data of real bridge structures. Furthermore the 2D elastic frame modelling of the shear connection is presented leading to a suitable tool
