    The on-going conservation and reconstruction of the Premonstrate Monastery at Teplá in western Bohemia was the site for the implementation of the results of research into the application of carbon composites in the rehabilitation of historic vaults. The analysis manifested the occurrence of relatively high tensile stresses at the vault crown in the vault cross section’s parts adjoining the vault soffit due to vertical loading and temperature effects. They exceed the ultimate strength of masonry in tension and may be the cause of the appearance of tensile cracks. The paper presents the design and execution of the stabilisation and reinforcement pro-cedure of vaults over the arcaded walk in the convent on the 1st overground storey, damaged by a continuous, at places prominent, tensile crack at the vault crown using non-prestresed strips of carbon composites and epoxy resin, including the results of FEM numerical analysis and ex-perimental verification.
