USE OF CLOSE RANGE PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND IBM TECHNOLOGY FOR BUILDINGS PARTS DEFORMATION MODELING

  • Original language description

This paper presents an application of photogrammetrical methods for measuring the deformation of structural elements at sequential loading. Several load conditions were documented using correlation techniques and intersection photogrammetry. The Laboratory of Photogrammetry, CTU in Prague, did the measuring. Two types of material were tested: timber beams (linear part) and concrete beams. The progress of deformation was measured with a non-contact photogrammetrical method with the use of the image correlation technique (image based modeling – IBM). In this first experiment, a calibrated digital middle format camera Pentax was used for taking of photos. Agisoft Photoscan software was used for the deformation documentation. In the second experiment, three calibrated digital high resolution (10-15 MPix) Canon cameras were used (Canon Mark II5D and Canon 450). The cameras were installed about 2 m from the measured object with the camera base approx. 3 m away. A computer controlled both cameras remotely and the images were saved to the hard drive in raw format. The images that were taken were synchronized in several intervals. The measured object was lit with two 300W lamps. On the object, cca 50 measured points were monitored for dynamical deformation. Photomodeler software was used in this case. As comparative models, measurements by the precise laser scanner Surphaser were done such as the direct measurement of deformations by potentiometers. The outputs shown, which all used non-traditional technology, are good enough for deformation measurement in sub-mm range.
