    Prague Straightness Centrality Map

  • Original language description

The map illustrates the result of straightness centrality analysis of all buildings in Prague within 800 meters walking radius. The "Urban Reachability" tool for ArcGIS 10.2, developed at the Department of Geomatics (K-155), was used for the analysis. The tool calculates several indexes, including accessibility, betweenness, closeness and straightness. The straightness index shows the closeness of the shortest paths between a building i and other buildings in a network within accepted distance threshold along existing road system. The pedestrian network of Prague including all walking paths as well as the geodatabase of the Prague Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre, which contains information about the locations of all buildings in Prague was used for the straightness analysis. This map is a part of an extensive research of Prague urban form, aimed to reduce transport energy consumption and negative impacts on the environment.
