  • Original language description

The subject of this paper is an experimental and numerical analysis of a traditional carpentry butt joint and two alternative joints. Finite-element mesh analysis of a butt joint and mesh quality assessment represents an important part of a relevant research. The symmetry condition of a solid joint model is used due to high calculation convergence speed. An experiment of a butt joint and its alternatives are comprised herein. In case of the alternative details, stiffness and its increase from the load-displacement diagram is noticeable. This fact is proved by a numerical model based on finite element method. Experimental and numerical outputs are compared.
