Granular Part of a Cold Recycled Mix Consisting of Variant Road Materials
Original language description
Using the cold recycling technology, every road material – asphalt, hydraulically bound and unbound – can be recycled, either in situ or in plant. In Czech Republic, 90 % of cold recycling is done in situ. This technology is fast, ecological and less harmful for surroundings, nevertheless the potential of individual materials is not fully used. Within in situ recycling, multiple layers are usually milled and high quality asphalt RAP is mixed with hydraulically bound or unbound materials. Mixed recyclate, which is subsequently used into the new road construction, is then characterized by high heterogeneity, which negatively affects its properties. This paper is focused on impact of the granular part composition of the mix on its final properties. Granular part of tested mixes consisted of asphalt RAP, recycled concrete, recycled unbound material or their combinations. The influence of added mechanically activated materials – fine concrete and limestone – was investigated as well.
